Finished studying Augustine's works on the free will today. I do not have to retract this post! : ) Augustine tends to be more balanced in his theology than his rhetoric, but non-the-less he tends to despair over the human will to the point it is so weak and ineffective to almost be utterly useless. Our wills can never merit us salvation, but I do believe that they participate more with God's grace than Augustine would ever allow.

Interestingly the Great Fall did not lead Augustine to the "bondage of the will" common in Reformation writings. Instead, it pushed Augustine to see the need for grace in every human action, being prior to it and cooperating with it. (I'm studying Augustine presently and have a lot left to read!) However, I would still hold that Augustine could have held out more hope for the power of the grace that he deemed so necessary. The later Reformers took free will and made it the slave of devils of Deity and easily claimed Augustine as their theological father, being one with him in despair over personal sinful warfare.

Answering that question would require a whole post. Feel free to ask me in person, or maybe I'll get around to writing about it! Thanks.

I think it is open to interpretation. I think it is meant to represent more the name of the actual church and how they see the relationship that one is to have with God. I think the picture is more of a visual aid and isn't necessarily trying to invoke the thoughts or ideas that you have come to Stephen.

But I could be wrong. The only thing obscene in this picture is the lack of moose in the background.

"After a while it just becomes easier to blame somebody else."

that about sums up the last 20 years (or all of human history). Actually, isn't that one of the first documented actions post fall? Yeah, it is. "It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit."
